Jack Welch the infamous CEO of General Electric once said, “Change before you have to”, and in our current economic climate this wise quote becomes even more applicable. As interest rates(5.5% currently) have increased considerably, albeit still lower than pre 2020 levels, fuel prices skyrocket and the knock-on effect on product/service prices, it is evident that the market is shifting and the ability to absorb the impact and act on it pre-emptively will be key to success.
The steep growth of real estate prices along the coast have rewarded sellers with great benefit over the past year, however with the strain on household budgets this may very well threaten a lot of properties to return to market in the coming term. If this unfortunate scenario plays out, prices will come under threat with market shifting from sellers to buyers’ market again. It is thus of utmost importance to price your home responsibly and sell within a short period of time. Buyers have already become much more cautious and conservative in their purchasing approach with regards to their budget, and if you price your home incorrectly you risk staying on market too long and may miss the opportunity. The only way to ensure that you enter the market with the correct and reasonable price is to have a formal valuation done by your carefully selected property professional.
July has luckily awarded us with some much more positive news with one of our locals capturing footage that sent the marine research world abuzz. Christiaan Stopforth, an avid drone photographer/videographer from Hartenbos, captured footage that has long been speculated about and now have the visual evidence that Orca’s prey on Great White sharks, and more specifically targeting their livers. This very rare and spectacular footage has landed him a feature on Discovery Channels popular Shark Week and has since expectedly gone viral. His page DRONE FANATICS SA has been a favourite to locals for quite some time with his beautiful footage of the Whales that visit our shorelines, frequent dolphin activity and the very active shark population that we’re blessed with. We’re excited to see much more from your lens Christiaan. Be sure to follow him for your weekly dose of our marine life’s activity.
